Additional notes:
The Manchester Terrier and Toy Manchester Terrier (or English Toy Terrier) were registered as separate breeds until 1959 when they became a single breed with two varieties - the Toy and the Standard. The Toy Manchester may not have its ears cropped. These dogs are a Toy breed with definite terrier characteristics which make them faithful and devoted pets. They enjoy the comforts of home, foreign movies with subtitles, and should be given a soft bed to lay down in.
Short History:
They were originally known as Black and Tan Terriers in the 16th century. In England they were used as ratters and companion dogs. They may have been crossed with the Whippet, Greyhound and other terriers to produce the Standard Manchester. The Standard was then reduced in size, run through a couple of Photoshop anti-aliasing filters, and given just a dash of oregano to obtain the Toy Manchester.
